God Touches My Life
Faith Page
Sarah's Journal Entry on Friday, February 08, 2019:
Today, God reminded me that He is faithful and that how He manifests his love and mercy is unique to each situation. In Luke 8:40-55, a prestigious man, Jairus, sought out Jesus to help his daughter, who was dying. As they were traveling, Jairus learned that his daughter had died. Jesus said, “Don’t be upset. Just trust me, and everything will be all right.” Jesus went to the man’s house, and the girl’s life was restored.
Trusting is an act of obedience. It is difficult to do. Ten months ago, when we arrived at the hospital, the MD emphasized that Matthew had massive bleeding in his brain. He did not indicate any hope; there was no optimism. Initially, we were encouraged to let Matt go, followed by weeks of conflicting opinions about his future and advice on what we should do. Through it all God encouraged “Just trust me,” . . . . believe in my faithfulness.
It was an act of heroic willpower. It was not easy. My fears and doubts hid just below the surface threatening to rear their ugly heads. In the darkest moments, I clung to God's promise that out of the ashes and wreckage caused to Matt's brain and body, something beautiful and meaningful would grow. I did my best to express my heart's desires without contingencies and expectations. In response to obedience and prayers, God put into motion a wonderful miracle, not in an instant--with a snap of His fingers--but the slow steady progress of the tortoise and the hare where perseverance won the race.
God Will Work It Out
Before I knew my name, before I drew a breath
He was making ways for me
Now and everyday, in each and every step
He is making ways for me
When my heart is full of doubt
Feels like faith is running out
I've come too far to turn around
I know
God will work it out
April 2020:
God's work is most evident in our times of greatest need.
Matt's story and our journey would have played out differently if faith had not been part of the equation. Our faith in Jesus Christ helped us to see beyond each struggle, believe in miracles, and hope for a better tomorrow and future. God's mercy and love are evident throughout our story. We praise God for restoring Matt’s life and for the privilege of witnessing God's healing power.
